Proxy Server Configuration

01 Jan
Set up proxies in Mozilla Firefox in 30 seconds. It’s easy! And how to disconnect.

If the user needs to connect to blocked Internet resources or ensure the anonymity of the IP address when working on the network, proxy servers come to the rescue. They act as intermediaries, hiding the real location of the owner, opening access to sites blocked by the provider. To get a quality service, there are paid proxy servers without limitations, but there are also free options. I don’t want to upset you, but if the service is high-quality and in demand, over time it will become paid. Slow and non-working services remain free, besides, they are collective, i.e. a couple of thousand more people use this server besides you. If you don’t want to waste time, pay for a stable and functional proxy.

HTTPS proxy or Socks

To date, both types of protocols are individual and perfectly preserve your anonymity. HTTPS is a protocol that supports SSL protection. The transmitted traffic is encoded using specific data protection algorithms, as a result, it is impossible to find out what information passes through the server. Advantages:
  • security – excludes the possibility of interception of information;
  • Saving information to a buffer for faster access in subsequent requests.
Socks is an anonymous proxy server protocol that reliably protects information. The stable, currently used versions are Socks4 and Socks5. Provide access to network resources that cannot be bypassed using HTTP and HTTPS. Dignity:
  • does not transmit the user’s IP when requested;
  • simultaneous work with multiple protocols;
  • stable connection without disconnects;
  • High level of anonymity thanks to the SOCKS chain.

Setting up proxies in Firefox

After buying a proxy, you need to do something with it. For correct configuration in Firefox, we offer step-by-step instructions.
    1. Open the Mozilla Firefox browser.
    2. In the upper right corner there is a “Three sticks” – called Menu
    3. In the menu that opens, find “Settings”. 4. In the main or secondary menu, find the “Network Settings” setting and click “Configure” 5. After the manipulations are performed, the “Proxy Settings for Internet Access” window will open, where you select “Manual Settings”. 6. Fill in the fields:
  • enter the address of the purchased proxy server and the port in the HTTP proxy line – if you bought an HTTP proxy server;
  • tick the box below “use this proxy server for all protocols”;
  • for HTTPS, fill in the proxy address in SSL and the port;
  • for SOCKS 4 or 5, write the IP address and port in the “SOCKS node” field and switch in the line below to SOCKS 4 or leave a mark in SOCKS 5;
  • check the data and click OK.
When filling in a specific field, check that the others that do not need to be filled in are left blank. When you start Mozilla Firefox, you will be asked to enter your username and password. Enter data and go. If the binding is carried out by IP, you can work immediately. How to disable proxies in Mozilla Firefox Disconnection occurs according to the same algorithm, only in the “Proxy Settings for Internet Access” select “Without a proxy” or “Use proxy system settings”. And what if you need to work with several proxies at the same time? For this purpose, use Mozilla add-ons, such as FoxyProxy. The add-on allows you to switch between proxies on the fly or set up a group of sites and assign them a specific proxy. A convenient feature is the creation of profiles, to which sites and proxy addresses are linked. Whether proxies are needed or not, knowledge of how to connect or disconnect will not be superfluous, because with their help the user’s anonymity on the network is preserved, and sites blocked by the provider are opened.
