Proxy Server Configuration

01 Jan
Instructions: Setting up a proxy in Internet Explorer. Simple and clear. 30 seconds

If you experience difficulties when visiting any Internet resource, a legal way to bypass the blocking is to connect through a proxy server. When you use Internet Explorer, your computer or other Internet-connected device communicates with the servers of the resources you request. This is how your IP address, region of residence, and even the operating system installed on the gadget become known. If necessary, it is easy to get other information about you. Those who prefer to remain an unknown user on the network mask the IP with the help of proxies. To really become anonymous and use proxies to the maximum, reduce the risk of getting banned or blacklisted as a spammer – buy ready-made and clean addresses.

Types of proxies for Internet Explorer

Proxy servers can be divided into regional (different countries or regions of Russia), free and paid. Proxies of other countries, especially if they are free, need to be checked for performance. Given that free resources are slow and collective, they often get blacklisted and end up not working. Paid proxies are more functional. Their cost is low, but the performance is several times higher than their free counterparts. In addition, paid proxies are personal and workable, and they have stable and high-speed traffic. Paid proxies for Internet Explorer can also be divided into types:
  • SOCKS4, SOCKS5 are transparent anonymous proxy servers that reliably protect information. Functional, because they support several protocols for transferring information, building proxy chains.
  • HTTP is designed to work with websites.
  • SHTTP is the same, but a secure connection is provided by support for SSL protocols. Allows you to access web resources, eliminating the possibility of interception of information.
Advantages of a proxy for Internet Explorer:
  • saving information to a buffer for accelerated access in subsequent requests;
  • stable connection without disconnects;
  • simultaneous work with multiple protocols;
  • does not transmit the user’s IP when requested, if socks is used;
  • High level of anonymity thanks to the SOCKS chain.

Configuring a proxy in Internet Explorer

Once you have decided on a proxy server, you need to configure your browser to work through it. This takes a few minutes and involves changing the local network settings. Clear your cache and cookies before setting up.
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Next Path: “Properties”
  3. In the window that opens, click “Network Settings”, select the “Use proxy server for local connections” item and click “Advanced”.
  4. The “Proxy Server Settings” window will appear in front of you, where you need to fill in the required line:
  • in HTTP proxy, the address of the purchased proxy server and the port – if you bought an HTTP proxy server;
  • in the Secure line – if you have HTTPS;
  • in Socks – if you have purchased SOCKS4 or SOCKS5.
Leave the rest of the fields blank. Check the correctness of the entered data and click OK. To disable the configured changes, you need to make the “Use proxy server for local connections” tab inactive. Remember that the use of free proxies leads to a slowdown in the Internet, which means that data transfer or downloading information will take a long time.
